Aflatoxicosis

Definition

Mycotoxicosis of poultry caused by aflatoxin produced by certain strains of the mold Aspergillus flavus. The mold occurs mainly on peanuts but also on rice, soybeans and maize; the livers of dead birds are pale with a yellow tinge; prevention consists in hygienic feed management.
