Antioxidant

Definition

A substance that readily accepts an oxygen radical and thereby prevents oxidation; natural antioxidants include vitamins C and E; synthetic antioxidants such as butylated hydroxytoluene are used in feed supplements to protect fats and lipophilic vitamins.
